Turkish Maarif foundation inaugurate pre-school in Accra, Ghana
Maarif International School has commenced its operation in Ghana’s capital Accra.
A ceremony marked under the auspices of the Turkish Embassy and Turkish Maarif Foundation. The school will operate Nursery and KG departments with the view to scale into the primary and high school departments in the coming years.
The Turkish Ambassador to Ghana H.E Özlem Ergün Ulueren iterated the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s vision continue to work with African countries, to support human capital and improve educational capability.
Mrs Özlem Ergün Ulueren further noted that, Turkey-Africa relations continue to gain momentum since 2005. Turkey has so far supported more than ten thousand African students with scholarship, she added.
Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid welcome Maarif Foundation to Ghana and tasks the school to be rigorous in terms of standard to compete with the many international schools in Ghana.
The school which is situated at the Airport Residential area in Accra will promote teaching and learning through an integrated curriculum that fosters excellence in human development as well as international languages such as French and Turkish.
The school aims to nurture students to become critical thinkers and be able to unearth their individual skills and abilities through a well-planned teaching program in accordance with international standards.
The foundation established in 2016, by the Turkish government to provide educational services and education-related aid and infrastructure around the world on behalf of the Turkish state.
Since its inception just three years ago, the foundation has made incredible strides in delivering on its mandate, with its footprint in 55 countries, including the United States, Europe and with good number of African countries.
The event had in attendance some important dignitaries from both Turkey and Ghana including the executive director of Maarif Foundation, Mr. Ahmed, Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency and Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Hon Okudzeto Ablakwa .
