Turkey celebrate 60th anniversary establishment of diplomatic relations in Ghana

The outgoing Turkish Ambassador to Ghana Her Excellency Nesrin Bayazit, has recounted her experience and great strides made at improving diplomatic ties between Ghana and Turkey.

A relationship spanning 60 years which started in 1958, during her tenure has been further strengthened.

At the ceremony to mark the 95th Turkish National Foundations day held in Accra.

The Ambassador indicated her office has encouraged more Turkish firms to invest in Ghana praising Ghana’s top notch democratic credentials and peaceful nature, making it the right investment point for their firms.

Madam Bayazit said ‘’currently there are 24 bilateral agreements between Ghana and Turkey and I am expecting more collaboration in the offing ‘’

Madam Bayazit could not hide how particularly proud she was of the Turkish firm Mapa Construction MNG holding for the job done on Ghana’s Kotoka international airport terminal 3 which has received accolades from the world over.  Also commends the Turkish NGO, Human Development Association International (HUDAI) for the construction of the Furqan Ghana National Mosque in Accra.

The ambassador highlighted how her country Turkey, is poised to collaborate with Ghana in the Agriculture, Education and Tourism sectors as plans are underway for the Turks to build schools in Ghana as well .

Turkish investment in Ghana enhances to 516 million US dollars.

In the aviation sector, the Turkish Airlines that started operations 2010 has significantly by 76% she pointed out.

With regards to the improvement of Agriculture in Ghana, the Turkish Exim Bank has also contributed to the planting for food and job and also the one village one dam project, she further reiterated her governments support for the Ghana beyond aid agenda as well.

For the sporting sector, she indicated how the Turkish embassy in Ghana supports Ghanaian footballers playing in the Turkish league the likes of Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan and Andre Dede Ayew.

She noted how the Turkish government grants scholarship to Ghanaian students who wish to study in Turkish Universities and encouraged Turkish Non Governmental Organizations to help in such efforts.

She also commended how Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is working swiftly to attain the Sustainable Development Goal on education and congratulated him appointment to the United Nations as Co-Chair of Eminent group of Advocate on UN SDG’s.

She thanked the Ghanaian government, Ghanaians and her compatriots as she drew a curtain on her ambassadorial duties in Ghana.
