The next big thing to hit culinary arts in Ghana
For every country’s tourism industry to grow its food and culinary arts is a major contributing factor that if well looked into will be a major foreign exchange earner for Ghana.
The passion to see professional staff equitably manage such a multi million dollar industry necessitated the establishment of Prime School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts by Mr Prosper Kumi who is the Chief Executive Officer and his abled professional lectures and staff who manage the institution .
Officially launched today 21 Nov 2018 at the schools premises off the Mallam Kasoa Highway Chairman of the occasion consultant Nana Baah Wiredu was glad to note that, alas a dream of such a school to train skilled staff in the hospitality industry had come true. He also advised that as Ghanaians if we are able to properly host visitors in our homes there is also a professional way we do it for foreign nationals hence the establishment of this institution .
However, Director of the school, Mr Stephen Dzillah who is also the former president of the Ghana Chefs Association could not hide his joy ,as for the past twenty years his plea to the Ministry of tourism has yielded no results but alas in 2018 a school to cater for such needs in food production ,housekeeping, front office, short courses in kitchen operation with HACCP standards ,table setting etiquette for housewives ,pastry workshop ,restaurant and bar management ,spa therapy ,nail technician and part time cooking lessons are now available as well .
He was also optimistic that the practical training the student are given will equip them to excel in the ever challenging globally competitive cuisine.
Special guest of honour Mr Micheal Kpingbi also indicated that tourism in Ghana should be everybody’s business since government cannot do it all.
Mr Kpingbi also appealed to the administrators of the school to employ highly qualified trained teachers to train the students in order to address the challenges that have bedeviled the hospitality industry in Ghana .
