ROBOFEST 2019 winners MEGHIS meet US ambassador to Ghana
The 2019 Robofest World champions from Methodist
Girls’ SHS, Mamfe and staff members of the school, together with other winners
from Ghana and a team from the Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation on Thursday,
13 June 2019 visited the American Embassy and met with the U.S Ambassador to
Ghana, Ms Stephanie Sullivan.
She congratulated the winners and emphasised how
proud the embassy was of the work the entire Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation
is doing to promote STEM education in the country.
The task at the event comprised building a robot
to arrange boxes according to a Binary Number Given. This Binary Number is
unveiled when all the robots are impounded.
MEGHIS triumphed in the preliminary contests
held in Ghana by beating all the top senior high schools.
The annual competition in Ghana, under the code
name ‘Robotics Inspired Science Education’ (RISE), is organised by the Ghana
Robotics Academy Foundation founded by Dr Ashitey Trebi-Olenu.
Ghana’s MEGHIS beat other countries like Japan,
China, Korea, South Africa, United States and Mexico at the competition.
