Mustapha Hamid appointed NPA Chief Executive Officer

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has appointed the former Zongo and Inner City Development minister, Dr. Mustapha Hamid to head Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority (NPA) as its Chief Executive Officer.

In a letter dated 17 June 2021, the former minister is expected to assume his duties from July 1 2021 and is charged to “regulate, oversee and monitor the petroleum downstream industry in Ghana for efficiency, growth and stakeholder satisfaction”

This position was previously held by Hassan Tampuli, the current Member of Parliament for Gushegu. Tampuli was elected as an MP in the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. He also serves as the Deputy Minister-designate for Transport.

Dr. Mustapha Hamid was previously the spokesperson for Nana Akufo-Addo from 2008 to 2017, appointed Information Minister and later moved to the Zongo and Inner City Development ministry. He was also the Deputy National Campaign Manager in charge of Communications for New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 elections.
