Inside Africa – Over 100 students get Sudan Scholarships

A total of 108 Muslim students have been offered scholarships to study degree courses at the International University of Africa in Khartoum Sud an.
The students were announced on Friday, 7th July at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala by the Secretary for Education Shk. Juma Bakhit Cucu.
These were selected in Khartoum from a total of 250 applicants who sat for interviews earlier this year.
The successful students will pursue different courses as follows:

In his remarks, the Secretary for Education Shk. Juma Bakhit Cucu congratulated the successful students and wished them success in their studies which start in this academic year 2017/18.
He informed the students and their parents that the Air Tickets to Khartoum will be paid by AWTAD Charitable Muslim Organisation.

The UMSC Spokes person Haji Nsereko Mutumba commended H.E the Mufti of Uganda Shk. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje for advocating for more scholarships during his previous meetings with the concerned authorities in the Islamic Republic of Sudan.
“With the Mufti’s efforts, the number of scholarship slots have been increased from 50 as per last year to 108” Haji Mutumba said noting that apart from  11 students who will pursue Islamic studies, the rest will study secular courses which will enable them to create or attain jobs.
“The Mufti’s dream is to have Sheikhs who are professionals in other fields so that they do not depend on handouts from Muslims in the Mosques” Haji Mutumba added.
He also thanked Munazzamat Al Da’wa Al Islamiyya for coordinating the scholarships in Uganda on behalf of the government of Sudan and the International University of Africa.      
All the successful students are required to report to Munazzamat offices with their guardians on Monday 10th July 2017 at 10:00am for briefing.
