Injunction placed NDC primaries

An Accra High Court has placed an interim injunction on the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) upcoming presidential primaries.

Mr James Kabu Nartey and Abdallah Issah prayed the court to take that action.

The two gentlemen are challenging the guidelines set for the presidential primaries.

The order from the court read: “The NDC, their committees, agents, private servants or authorised bodies and all persons acting through them be restrained from proceeding with the NDC 2019 Presidential Elections in the manner outlined in the guidelines as amended or at all until the final determination of the suit.”

The injunction is for the next 10 days after which the plaintiffs could reapply for a notice to halt the election process.

The NDC presidential primaries is scheduled for 26 January 2018.

NDC flag bearer hopefuls Mr Alban Bagbin and Mr Goosie Tanoh hinted at dragging the party to court in connection with the GHS420,000 nomination and filing fees announced for flag bear-aspirants.

But with the intervention of the party’s Council of Elders, the filing fees was reduced by GHS100,000.

All the other flag bearer aspirants also accused the party executives of skewing the process in favour of former President John Mahama.
