Ghana – Police arrest recruitment, Visa scam suspect in Kumasi
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a suspected fraudster at Krofrom a surburb of Kumasi on Tuesday 23rd May at about 4:00PM for dwindling a number of unsuspecting members of the public of some various sums of money under the pretext of securing them Visas, government appointment, contracts of government institutions.
The suspect George Kobiah, 47years alias Nana Yaw is reported to have use the office of the Ashanti Regional Minister and the Defense Minister purportedly use to the influence in government to secure his victims jobs.
In a news conference today, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah said the suspect manage to collect various sums of monies between the amount of 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 from his victims but failed to honor his promise and went into until his arrest.
During a search in his residence a total number of 37 application letters with CV’s and result slips applying for Ambassadorial, Municipal/ District Chief executive positions and other positions were found in his room.
The police command is therefore appealing the general public, especially persons who have fallen victims to his activities to come the Regional Headquarters Adum to assist in investigations.
