Black Friday shopping experience hugely patronised in Ghana
Shoppers in Ghana and across the world have yet again participated in one of the world’s exciting shopping experiences.
The Black Friday usually offers shoppers outrageous reduction in prices on all kinds of items. Although not a very common experience in Ghana, the day is gradually gaining recognition.
Citi Business News can report that in the national capital, Accra, some shoppers experienced up to 50% reduction on products they purchased depending on the shop.
Black Friday is the name given to the shopping day after Thanksgiving which is observed in the United States.
It was originally called Black Friday because so many people went out to shop that it caused road accidents, and sometimes even violence.
The Day is expected to see discount deals of between 10 to 90 percent on a wide array of items.
‘Black Friday’ also officially opens the Christmas shopping season.
In Ghana, the Black Friday shopping brought about massive vehicular traffic jam and over-crowding in various shops as shoppers tried to grab their favourite products first from the counter.
At the Citydia Super Market in Adabraka, shoppers were seen busily shopping and in long queues at the counter waiting to pay for their products.
The Branch Manager, Innocent Gati, told Citi Business News the discount sale has been successful.
“I am really overwhelmed by the patronage. The sales have been very successful” he said.
The Supervisor at Telefonika at Accra Mall, Pascal Adotevi, said their target has been achieved.
“This year has been way better than last year. I honestly made more sales than last year, and I’m positive our target has been achieved” he said.
Some shoppers who spoke to Citi Business News expressed their excitement about the Black Friday shopping experience, as they look forward to next year’s event.
“The black Friday helps us buy more for less and I can’t wait for next year’s” one said excitedly.
Another said “Ghanaians are now beginning to understand what Black Friday is, and that makes it more exciting. Next year I’ll come back and shop for even more”.
