Atinka TV and others to face defamation lawsuit
The Development Chief of Sarpeiman, Nii Abbey Okanfrah I and CEO of Sissamaba Company Limited, has instructed his lawyers to take on Atinka TV and a certain Nii Ayitey Oyanka, to retract a false publication about him within seven (7) days.
Ayitey Oyanka, who happens to be the Opa of Sarpeiman, made some derogatory remarks on Hot FM Program stating that Chief Abbey is a land guard and a murderer on the 26th September 2017.
He is said to have repeated same unfounded and untruthful derogatory statements on Accra FM. Also in an interview with Atinka TV, he further repeated the malicious slander against chief Abbey.
On the 24th January, 2018, Atinka TV also allowed its platform to be used and broadcast slanderous allegations against Chief Abbey Okanfrah.

A section of the query letter addressed to Atinka TV read “It has come to the notice of our client that you on the 24th January 2018 allowed your platform to be used to broadcast slanderous allegations against our client.
Our client informed us that you as a media organization did not do any due diligence in verifying the truth before broadcasting it to the world”
“We are of the opinion that you acted negligently and that your irresponsible conduct has caused injury to our client and as a result suffered damages”
The lawyers further stated that “we have been instructed to write to you to retract the unfounded vexatious information about our client within 7 days of receipt of this letter through the same means and mode of programme that was first used to broadcast. Our letter also demands a public apology from your organization within the said period”
“Failure to meet the demands of our client would bring an action against you in a court of competent jurisdiction within the Republic of Ghana”.
The management of Atinka TV is yet to respond to this letter.
