AAPC anniversary to be held in Ghana

Ghana is scheduled to host the 60th anniversary of the All African People’s Conference (AAPC) which is aimed at promoting freedom and unity on the African continent on 8 December 2018.

It is an attempt by the Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Centre and the Pan-African Federalist Movement to revive and continue the campaign of Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah in achieving development for the African continent.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, 5 December 2018, Communication Director of the Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Centre, Nii Amarh Akomfrah, reiterated the need for Africa to unite to drive economic development and free the continent from hardships.

“The 60th anniversary seeks to bring to the fore the urgent need for the political unification of African states,” he said.

He added that panel discussions will also examine “the state of Africa’s sovereignty” with strategic workshops held with action plans to campaign for the “unification of African states including those in the Caribbean”.

The programme will include speeches, discussions, audiovisual presentations, poetry, musical performances and audio versions of some of Dr Nkrumah’s classical works.

The programme will be graced by President Nana Akufo-Addo and other African presidents.

The All-Africa Peoples Conference was conceived to include social groups, including ethnic communities and anti-colonial political parties and African organisations such as Labour Unions and other significant associations in the late 1950s and early 1960s both in Africa and the diaspora such as Europe, North America and South America.

The All-Africa Peoples Conference was conceived to represent the position that Africa should be returned to the peoples and groups, such as ethnic communities, from whom it was grabbed by colonialists.
