Chief justice inaugurates child friendly court

Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, on Tuesday, 4 November 2018 inaugurated the Model Child-Friendly Court; a gender-based violence court at the Supreme Court.

The court has been established to enhance Ghana’s juvenile justice delivery, protect the rights of juveniles and young offenders.

Second Lady Samira Bawumia, who joined the Chief Justice to inaugurate the court, said child-friendly procedures must be adopted at all stages of the justice process.

In her view, this will ensure children’s willingness to report violations and cooperate throughout the process.
